HDK is proud to present a trilogy by German dungeon-synth duo GILGARETH, consisting of the albums "Werkzeuge des Meisters," "Sidequests," and "Aventurische Flüsse." The covers are by Caryad (illustrator of the classic German role-playing game "Das Schwarze Auge"), and each cassette of the trilogy contains a portion of a ready-to-play RPG campaign written by the HDK editorial team.

This is "Werkzeuge des Meisters" (Dungeon Master's Tool), the first chapter: pure nostalgia for the role-playing games of our childhood!

𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗞𝗭𝗘𝗨𝗚𝗘 𝗗𝗘𝗦 𝗠𝗘𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦 is your core rulebook – learn the mechanics, create tension for your players, feel the clash of steel and spell! You are the architect of fate. This album is about structure, power, and the invisible hand behind the screen. The tracks reflect these aspects in a more nostalgic, earthbound 80s sound aesthetic – a narrative thread we’ve been pursuing with Gilgareth since our earliest releases. The music is dedicated to classic digital synth sounds, sometimes rough and edgy, sometimes celestial, in parts clumsy and wonky, but all of them mighty. Accompanied by iconic drum machines, the tracks are mixed and recorded using analog equipment, some of which is delightfully worn and imperfect.

This trilogy is illustrated by Caryad, whose artwork shaped the face of Aventuria for generations of DSA players. Her drawings defined so many modules, rulebooks, heroes, monsters, and mysterious realms that they became inseparable from the way we imagined this world as teenagers. We are deeply grateful that this collaboration became reality.
